An Independent Smile by Devin Pavlischak/ December 12th, 2015 ©

A smile breached once, branded by deception.

By the second, wonder grew.

Quietly breathing, his gaze expands.

The world opens, I stand opposing.

My throat is a lump, composing.

Breathe you fool, before you’re seen.

Silence is near, always with a smile.
